Lamont Reese

Lamont D. "Mont" Reese (October 16, 1977 June 20, 2006) was an American convicted murderer who was executed by lethal injection in his home state of Texas.

The crime

Reese was convicted of using a handgun to shoot and kill three men aged 17, 25, and 26 outside a convenience store on March 1, 1999 in Fort Worth, Texas. Also injured were a 13-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man. All the victims of Reese's attack were African-American, as was Reese himself.

Reese maintained his innocence throughout his incarceration. Reese had to be carried to the death chamber, refusing to walk there. In his final statement, he explained, "I am not going to play a part in my own murder. No one should have to do that."
