Léon Bogman

Frans Léon Hubert Bogman (11 July 1927 - 19 March 2020) was a Dutch mayor of Slenaken (1962-1982) and Noorbeek (1969-1982). He also had several other administrative positions.

Biography

Bogman was born in Schimmert, the son of J.H. Bogman (1886-1947), who was mayor then. In 1947 Bogman became a civil servant in Wijnandsrade and in 1953 became secretary-receiver.[1]

He was dating the daughter of mayor, but could not marry her without resigned due to the Municipal Act. In June 1962 Bogman was appointed mayor of Slenaken and the couple married soon after. In September 1969 he also became mayor of Noorbeek. In January 1982, Bogman was dismissed as mayor of those municipalities due to health reasons.

Bogman died in Maastricht in 2020, aged 92.[2][3] In Noorbeek, the square Burgemeester Bogmanplein is named after Bogman.
