Early life and Career

The father was one of shipwrecked Fred Olsen's close co-workers, and it was in his shipping company that Kristian Siem started his career. [2] He worked for Olsen until 1978 when he bought a cheap oil rig, which today has the name Borgsten Dolphin.

Siem has been chairman and main shareholder of the Norwegian Cruise Line. Siem has lived in Switzerland for several years, and decided in summer 2009 to flag his fleet to Norway.[2] In 2011, the king knighted Siem as the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav for his service to business.

He is the son of industrialist Martin Siem (1915-1996) and Inger Aagard (1916-2012). His siblings include brother, Ole Martin Siem (born 1956), a financier.
