Kilinjalgal

Kilinjalgal (transl.Clams) is a 1981 Indian Tamil-language film, directed by Durai and produced by G. Lalitha.[1][2] The film stars Mohan, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Dilip and V. K. Ramasamy in lead roles. The film had musical score by T. Rajendar. The movie was a blockbuster.[3] The film was remade in Hindi as Do Gulab.

Plot

Babu (Mohan) falls in love with Julie (Poornima). However, both the families are against this love due to religious differences. Despite heavy opposition, both Babu and Julie and stubborn in their decision. Julie’s father Stephen (V.Gopalakrishnan) locks her in a room while Babu’s father Manikkam (G. Srinivasan) also does not permit him to move out of his home. To everyone’s shock, Julie commits suicide. Hearing this, Babu rushes to the crematorium and dies when Julie’s corpse is being cremated. The movie ends mentioning that both Babu and Julie are united in the heaven which is free from religions.

The music was composed by T. Rajendar.[4] The song "Vizhigal Medaiyam" is set in Revathi raga.[5]
