Etymology
The name comes from the Slavic *Kostelьcь, Kostel - a stronghold (also a church, derived from Latin castellum).[1][2] See e.g. Slovak Ducové-Kostolec (Great Moravian stronghold), Czech Kostelec or Polish Kościelec.
