They belong to Ekthariya[note 1] Chhetri subcaste that is widely accepted to be of patrilineal Rajput origin from present day India,[1] which is in contrast to Bahuthariya (multiple clan) Chhetri subcaste which is of patrilineal Khas origin.[1]
