Early life

Katrina Young was born on January 10, 1992 in Shoreline, Washington to parents are Patrick and Carol Young.[1][2] Her grandmother, Elaine Silburn, was an Olympian who competed in Track and Field for Canada at the London 1948 Olympic Games.[1][3][4]

Diving

As a child, Young first took up gymnastics.[5] It wasn't until Young's older sister took an interest in swimming that Young followed in her footsteps and began diving at age 9.[3][5] She competed as a diver for Florida State University from 2010 to 2015.[2]

In June 2016, Young qualified for the U.S. Olympic team for Diving in the women's 10-meter platform.[3] Young was in fourth place going into the last dive at the Olympic trials, but a strong final dive allowed her to secure the second qualifying spot.[6]

gollark: I don't know. This just checks if the function for it exists.
gollark: But this will likely be true even if it's available but off.
gollark: `if ("interestCohort" in document)`
gollark: Is FLoC support/enablement detectable without actually checking it? We could detect SUPPORT easily.
gollark: > For any frame that is not allowed interest-cohort permission, the promise returned when it calls document.interestCohort() will reject. If the main frame does not have interest-cohort permission then the page visit will not be included in interest cohort calculation.Ah.
