Karen Azoulay

Karen Azoulay (born 1977)[1] is a multidisciplinary visual and performance artist from Toronto, Canada.[2] She is currently based in Brooklyn, New York.

Artistic practice

Azoulay’s artwork includes colourful sculpture, performance, installations and fashion design.[3] Her artwork often incorporates elements of traditional femininity, such as sewing, needlework, and floral imagery.[4]

Fashion

Azoulay's practice includes fashion design, as well as visuals for the windows of department stores.[5] In 2008, the artist collaborated with fashion designer Jeremy Laing on a collection of printed pieces. Also, in collaboration with her husband, George McCracken, she produced a limited-run jacket with her signature "Floriography" embroidery.[6]
