Geography

With an elevation of 6,697 feet (2,041 m), Kangaroo Mountain is the 1581st highest summit in the state of California.[3] The summit marks the southern boundary of the Red Buttes Wilderness which is administered by the Rogue River – Siskiyou National Forest.[1] The Pacific Crest Trail traverses the mountain's southern flank.

It was likely named after the California kangaroo rat.[4]
