Jyotish (caste)

The Jyotish (also Known as Abadhana or Nahaka ) is a Hindu caste found from Odisha state in India. Their traditional occupation is Preparing horoscopes and Forecasting of auspicious moments for marriage ceremonies and other hindu rituals work. They are also work as assistant Priest in Hindu weddings.[1][2]

Social Status

The Jyotishs are claimed their status as Brahmin Varna. But they are Included in Other Backward Classes in the state of Odisha due to their Economical background is very low.[3]
