Joscha Bach

Joscha Bach (born 1973 in Weimar, Germany) is a cognitive scientist focusing on cognitive architectures, models of mental representation, emotion, motivation and sociality.[1] Achievements include research in novel data compression algorithm using concurrent entropy models; development of microPsi[2] cognitive architecture for modeling emotion, motivation, mental representation.[3] Before joining AI Foundation, he worked as a visiting researcher at the MIT Media Lab and the Harvard Program for Evolutionary Dynamics.[4]

According to fact-finding reports from Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bach was directly or indirectly attributed $300,000 by Jeffrey Epstein charitable funds.[5][6] The fundings were made post-conviction of Epstein, who was found guilty of sex charges involving a minor in Florida in 2008.[5][6] According to Science Magazine,[7] Harvard University,[6] and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,[5] Bach declined to comment on his ties to Epstein.

Education

Master of Arts in Computer Science, Humboldt-Universität Berlin, 2000. Doctor of Philosophy, Osnabrück University, Germany, 2006.[8][9]

gollark: Yes, the external GPU things are very expensive. 4 lanes, though.
gollark: External GPU docks?
gollark: There's some mechanism for trusting specific devices, except apparently it's based on some UUID thing which can just be copied into a different device, and there have been at least two exploits in the security it has.
gollark: Now, they did think of this!
gollark: It allows PCIe to external devices, and PCIe allows direct memory access, obviously a giant security risk.
