Johnny Austin

Johnny Austin (23 December 1910 – 14 February 1983) was a musician born in Vineland, New Jersey. His name was originally John A. Augustine.

He played trumpet with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, parting ways with that band in 1939. He formed the Johnny Austin Orchestra in 1947. The Austin Band was never recorded. Johnny's playing can be heard on recordings of Jan Savitt.

A 45 by Blu-"J" records, Blue-"J" 239, the label of which identifies their address as "5th Avenue, New York", Blu-"J" 239, has the following sides: a- "My Heart is Just a Toy" (Orlando Bros - Tacconelli), Johnny Austin Orchestra, vocal Lois Martin b - "Flea Hop" (Johnny Austin) - Johnny Austin Orchestra
