John Baker (entrepreneur)

John Baker, M.S.C. is a Canadian entrepreneur. Baker founded D2L while studying Systems design engineering at the University of Waterloo.[2]

Baker was awarded the Meritorious Service Cross in 2017—earned for his work to advance learning across the country and around the world.[3] Baker has also won the Top 40 Under 40 in Waterloo Region in 2009,[4] has been inducted into the Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in Waterloo Region as Intreprid Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009,[5] and received the University of Waterloo Engineering Young Alumni Achievement Medal in 2010.[6][7]

John is on the Governing Council of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council,[8] Board of Directors for the National Ballet School,[9] and Past-Chair of Communitech.
