Joe El

Joel Amadi also known as Joe El or Joe El Everlasting and Bakololo master (born 23 March) is a Nigerian afrobeats singer, songwriter and performer,[1][2] signed with Kennis Music.[3] In the year 2006, he participated in the Star Quest singing competition in Jos and later on in the annual Kennis Music Easter fiesta and on each occasion, astonished the crowd with a free styling rap accapella.[2]

Biography

Joel Amadi was born to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Amadi Didam in Sokoto, Sokoto State and grew up with his family in Kano State.[2] His father hails from Zikpak, Kafanchan, southern Kaduna State, Nigeria,[4] while his mother hails from Otukpa, Benue State, Nigeria.

Joel attended Ramat Nursery and Primary School and afterwards graduated into Army Day Secondary School, Bukavu Barracks, Kano State. After graduating from the secondary school, he gained admission into the Kaduna State College of Education, Kafanchan (affiliated to the University of Jos), from where he graduated in 2005 with a Diploma in Accounting and Auditing.[2]

Several newsmedia reported the songwriter Twitting and posting on Instagram on 24 July 2020, about the murder of his father by Fulani herdsmen in his hometown, expressing his sadness and disappointment on the governor's handling of security in the state.[4][5][6]

Musical career

Joe El began his musical career in 2006, when he participated in the Star Quest singing competition which was his first TV appearance.

In 2009, he left Kano to Lagos where he hoped to achieve his dream of being among the world's greatest musicians. It took a struggle before he finally met Kenny Ogungbe, the CEO of Kennis Music record label who offered him a record deal in 2010. After getting signed in by Kennis Music, he released his debut single "I NO MIND", which later got nominated for the NMVA 2011 awards which was won by Joe El.

Joe El is often referred to as 2Baba's clone, due to their great facial resemblance. In 2014, he personally expressed his admiration for the music legend and also how much he would like to collaborate with him.[7]

Joe El achieved more fame and popularity with the release of his award-winning track "BAKOLOLO" which was a soundtrack used by Nigerian most famous radio stations between 2011 and 2012.

In 2017, he narrated to Hip TV that the reason why Nigerian artistes turn down offers to perform live on stage is because of the poor pay.[8]

Songs

Joe EL has over time dropped hits such as: Love song, Happy and Bakololo and later on performed on big stages such as the Glo Rock n Roll show in four different states in Nigeria, the annual kennis music Easter fiesta, and star quest grand finale.[2]

In 2016, Joe El released an album titled after the hitsong Do Good.[9]

In 2019, he teamed up with Ace Music Producer Masterkraft to produce a dance song titled Rawa (Dance), in collaboration with musicians like Naira Marley, Johnny Drille and Charley Puth.[3]

Awards

Joe El has since received awards such as:

  • Best RnB video at the Nigerian Music Video Award (NMVA), 2011;
  • "The Most Laspotech celebrated Artiste of the year Award", 2012;
  • Best new act in the most finest girl in Nigerian beauty pageant, 2013; and
  • An award for Most Endorsed Artiste in the most finest girl in Nigeria beauty pageant, 2013.[2]
