Jhumka (earring style)
Jhumka are a style of earring worn by women of the Indian Subcontinent.[1] Jhumka originated in Rajastan, India during the Chola Dynasty in the ninth century as a quintessential element of Temple jewellery.[2]
Under the Mughal Rule, the Kharanpool jhumka evolved into a single jewel, still maintaining its bell shape.[3] The jhumka, also known as jhumki, have maintained their status throughout history in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh as coveted earrings.
