Prior to rejoining Metec–TKH in 2020,[4] Asselman rode for the Roompot–Charles team during its five-year existence from 2015 to 2019. In the team's first year, Asselman rode in the Eneco Tour; after spending two consecutive days in the breakaway and winning bonus seconds, he moved into the overall lead of the race.[1]
