Club career

Turiel was born in Málaga, Andalusia. During his early career, the defensive-minded player with good heading ability represented Real Valladolid (which also loaned him, in 1997–98, to CD Toledo)[2] and Deportivo Alavés – being signed immediately after the 2001 UEFA Cup final[3]– after which he returned to Segunda División, representing Elche CF and Hércules CF.[4]

In the summer of 2007, Turiel joined Segunda División B club Pontevedra CF,[5] being released after two promotionless campaigns. Overall, he appeared in 135 matches each in La Liga and the second level in 12 professional seasons, scoring eight and seven goals respectively.[2]

gollark: Which eventually happened two weeks later.
gollark: Then nothing until around the start of March when it seemed possible for schools to close and such.

gollark: It probably wouldn't have done me much good to have taken it seriously earlier, inasmuch as I'm not in a position to do anything about it/convince anyone else to, and the worst of the supply chain disruption everyone was hyping up was me having to have somewhat different pasta for a few days.
gollark: I think I was mostly just ignoring it and treating it as random bad background event #9372628 until march or so.
