Career

Lamia began her acting career in New York City, where she appeared on Broadway[1] in Eugene O'Neill’s Ah, Wilderness! at Lincoln Center.[2] She soon moved on to television and film appearances, and is best known for her roles as Sherri Ward in The Fighter[3] with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale,[4] Siobhan Miller in Law and Order: SVU, Carrie Schillinger in Oz, and as Poppy Downes in Comedy Central’s Strangers With Candy, with Amy Sedaris. Over the span of her career, she has appeared on and off-Broadway, in over 30 television shows and feature films, and voiced video games and animated characters for film and television.[5] She is currently appearing as Judy Cooper in SyFy’s upcoming Resident Alien (Comics), starring Alan Tudyk, created by Christopher Sheridan.

Lamia is also an audio book narrator, and has won several golden earphones awards from AudioFile Magazine,[6] and was named Female Narrator of the Year in 2010 by the Audio Publishers Association.[7] She won Best Solo Narration - Female for The Chosen One.[8] She also played "Skeeter" in The Help, which won best fiction audiobook of the year that same year.[8]

Lamia is also a writer and producer of television and films. After selling her first feature script, All About Me, to New Line in 2006,[9] she joined the writing staff of The CW’s 90210. After 90210, Lamia went on to write, produce and act in Awkward, where she serves as Co-executive producer.

She began writing and producing The CW dramedy "No Tomorrow" in 2016. And in 2017, moved on to writing and Co-Executive Producing "Good Girls" for NBC.

In December of 2019, it was announced that she is writing and Executive Producing the network adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand's novel, "The Perfect Couple" for the Fox network.[10]

gollark: Yes. It's still a bad fire extinguisher regardless of how good the designers thought/claimed they were being.
gollark: Systems have no intentions. People in them might, and the designers probably did, and the designers also likely claimed some intention, and people also probably ascribe some to them. But that doesn't mean that the system itself "wants" to do any of those.
gollark: I think you could reasonably argue that it's better to respect institutions than ignore them because it's better for social cohesion/stability, but I don't agree that you should respect them because they're meant to be fair and because you can always get them to fix problems you experience if this isn't actually true.
gollark: If the fire extinguisher actually explodes when used to put out fires, it would be a bad fire extinguisher even if the designers talk about how good it is and how many fires it can remove.
gollark: We should be evaluating it on how well it does what we want it to, not how well the designers *claim it does*.
