Early life
Cummings served in the United States Navy. He graduated with a BS from Northeastern University and a Masters in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. He began his career in law enforcement in 1974.

gollark: On desktop Linux, I can fit a bootable system onto a small USB stick and happily run it on any modern x86 device. On Android, every device needs its own monolithic system image which is nightmarish to compile.
gollark: My device *is* rooted, which was really not a very pleasant process. But the entire Android architecture appears like a horrible locked-down mess.
gollark: I mean, Android is "Linux". Yet it's horrible and you basically can't do anything.
