J. Nagbe Sloh
Jaybloh Nagbe Sloh Snr.(died 30 June 2020) was a renowned Liberian Veteran Political Journalist later turned Politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives.[1][2] from 2017 until his untimely death in 2020.
Jay Nagbe Sloh was born on September 9th 1964 in Saybliah,Sinoe County in Liberia. He was educated in Montserrado County and later finished his education at Strayer University in the United States where he migrated to in 1997. He later returned to serve the people of Liberia and was promoted to director of Liberia News Agency (LINA) which was where he blossomed as a bright, ambitious, political journalist in the early 90s.
Jay Nagbe Sloh Snr had a passion for journalism and started his career as a young journalist in 1981. He had a natural tendency to speak the truth and educate the public and sometimes even if it meant going against the status quo or offending the masses. Sloh nicknamed himself "Townchief" which derived from his natural ability as an orator. His passion to tell the truth led to working with Liberia news agency(LINA)where he continued his career as a political journalist. Jay Nagbe Sloh became an ambitious journalist who represented Liberia's press and covered stories around the world.
Jay Nagbe Sloh's political ambition to create a change for the people and serve a marginalized population led to his decision to make the switch over to politics where he was elected as representative of Sinoe County( District#2) in 2017. Jay Nagbe Sloh kept his word as a man of the people and created modern infrastructure in the rural towns and created the desired change that the people of Sinoe County needed.
Jay Nagbe Sloh had a complex Personality in which he spoke his mind at times and it sometimes offended others. Jay Nagbe Sloh was later known as a "controversial lawmaker" because sometimes he spoke against his own very political party and sometimes his "loose talk" and larger than life persona shadowed his political career and lifetime achievements.
Jay Nagbe Sloh was married to Ruth Sloh on May 8th 1993. Mr. Sloh became estranged from Ruth Sloh and is survived by 8 living children. 6 currently living in the United States and 2 living in Liberia.
