j-multiplicity
In algebra, a j-multiplicity is a generalization of a Hilbert–Samuel multiplicity. For m-primary ideals, the two notions coincide.
Definition
Let be a local Noetherian ring of Krull dimension . Then the j-multiplicity of an ideal I is
where is the normalized coefficient of the degree d − 1 term in the Hilbert polynomial ; means the space of sections supported at .
gollark: So what? I could spin up an IRC server on my server, doesn't somehow make it good.
gollark: Normally you need to buy `~`s from your internet provider at a massive markup.
gollark: It sells `~`s really cheaply.
gollark: I'd use an equivalent thing which offered persistent message history and did not just dump messages when you're off.
gollark: Colors in IRC? Impossible.
