Ivar Bentsen

Ivar Bentsen (13 November 1876 – 21 May 1943) was a Danish architect and educator. [1]

Biography

Bidstrup was born at Vallekilde, in Odsherred Municipality, Denmark. He was the son of Andreas Peter Bentsen and wife Emilie Sophie Frederikke Lavigne. In 1896, he received a degree from the Technical School and was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts from 1899–1902. Bentsen began as an architect under the influence of Peder Vilhelm Jensen-Klint. Bentsen became the principal of the craft school in Vallekilde in 1908, but then founded his own school in Holbæk, which he led in 1913–1920. In 1923 he was appointed professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. [2]

Personal life

Bentsen was married in 1903 with Dagny Jensen (1877-1946). However, the marriage was later dissolved. He later married Helle Margrethe Klint Bentsen (1887-1969). He died in Copenhagen and was buried at Tibirke Cemetery.
