Critical reception

My Kind of Country's review concludes with, "It’s All in the Family is a collection of well-crafted songs, beautifully sung and tastefully produced, that lays to rest for once and for all the myth that Sylvia was just another pretty face. It’s more thoughtful and cerebral than anything that gets played on the radio these days, and with its folk and Celtic influences may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but those who remember and enjoyed Sylvia’s 80s music will like this collection."A [1]

Tyler Kes of The Contributor writes, "The album itself is a bit of a throwback, featuring more down-to-earth, homespun and authentic sounding country music than what you're likely to find playing on the radio these days."[2]

Stella Tabelon, Music Journalist for Country Music News International reviews the album and writes, "The intro of All in the Family is the echo of the song, "Because He Lives". The strings just pierce its way to your heart and move you. Tells about the precious moments with the family, far more valuable that it could ever be, the perfect recipe of love, going through the day of walking the aisle, talking, smiling, crying, laughing, sharing blessings. All these things make life a thing of beauty."[3]
