Iosif Lereter

Iosif Lereter (born 23 July 1933) is a Romanian former footballer and manager.[2]

Career

At the begging of his career, Lereter played as a forward and midfielder, ending his career as a defender.[2] He was part of UTA's team that in the 1970–1971 European Cup season eliminated Feyenoord who were European champions at that time.[2] On 16 October 1971 while playing for UTA Arad in a match against Argeș Pitești he became the first footballer to reach 300 appearances in the Romanian top-league Divizia A.[2][3][4] In 2008 Iosif Lereter received the Honorary Citizen of Timișoara title.[5][6][7] In 2018 in order to celebrate 60 years since the winning of the 1957–1958 Cupa României, the Politehnica University of Timișoara awarded Lereter a diploma of excellence.[2]

International career

Lereter played one game at international level for Romania in a 1966 FIFA World Cup qualification match which ended with a 3–1 loss against Czechoslovakia.[8][9]
