Institute of Engineering and Technology, DAVV

The Institute of Engineering & Technology', commonly referred to as IET, alternately 'IET DAVV is an engineering branch of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya. The college was founded as an autonomous institute in 1996. It takes a fees of 84,000 per year and takes 2500 exam fees per semester.[1] It is located near the Takshashila campus of the university on Khandwa Road in the south-east of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Earlier, the admission for BE program was through MPPET (state engineering exam) but since 2014, the admission is through scorecard of JEE Mains.

History

Devi Ahilya University within the framework of its UTD opened a self-financing engineering Institute named Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET). It started its academic journey with glorious dreams on 4 September 1996. It has been popularly known as IET-DAVV.

IET was started with a total intake of 90 students in three branches of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) - Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering having 30 students each. The first batch of these 90 students started their engineering career while studying in the classrooms of the sister UTD- School of Computer Science (SCS) and had got initially financial support from the other UTD- International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS).

It is an approved Institution by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, Government of Madhya Pradesh and University Grants Commission (UGC). IET is academically autonomous with flexible and modern curriculum in all branches of engineering. It is fully self-financing Institute offering BE programmes in six branches. Recently, AICTE has approved 180 additional seats making total intake of 540 students per year.

IET became PG Institute in 2002 and presently it is conducting ME Programmes with six specializations. In year 2006, MSc program in Applied Mathematics was also started.

PhD programme is also offered in all disciplines of BE/ME Programmes & all relevant areas of interest.

From 2009 the campus was used as a transit campus of IIT Indore till January 2016, which was shifted to permanent campus at Simrol.[2]

Computer Engineering Block of IET DAVV

The institute has six departmental blocks - Computer Engineering Block, Information Technology Engineering Block, Civil Engineering Block, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Block, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Block and Mechanical Engineering Block along with the Main block. The institute has buildings for library, workshop, and automobile testing.

Aakshank

AAKSHANK,[4] the annual cultural festival of Institute of Engineering & Technology, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya held roughly across end week of February. The first edition of these events was held in year 2000 and every year since then it is regularly getting upgraded, attaining both participation and popularity. IET had also organized rock concerts of many celebrities such as Kailash Kher, KK (singer), Euphoria (Indian band), gajendra verma, agni band, Nikhil D'Souza (Singer), DJ Willy(Vh1 Supersonic), in AAKSHANK 2k17 Nikhil Chinapa dj, and the very popular Papon came to entertain Indore. Aakshank IET-DAVV claims to be biggest (in terms of crowd) fest of Central India.

Invento

Invento is the annual technical festival of the Institute Of Engineering And Technology, DAVV which is held in August and September. It is organized by the students and the members of IET DAVV. Invento is a two day event on the campus with workshops, competitions, lectures, conferences, exhibitions, performances and various other events.[5]

gollark: Solar panels are unfortunately not good enough to keep drones airborne.
gollark: Anyway, I think the main issue with droneswarms is that they would run out of battery quite fast.
gollark: Can dogs climb walls? No. Therefore, geckos superior.
gollark: Well, they wouldn't be a good replacement for drones if they just sat around doing cat things.
gollark: I don't think military cats is a very good idea. They would be too rebellious.
