Imran Rahman

Imran Rahman is the dean of ULAB School of Business. He was vice chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) from 2011 to May 2017.[1][2][3] Rahman has been with ULAB since 2006 when he held the position of Director of the School of Business.[1] Two years later he was promoted to pro vice chancellor. He worked at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) between 1984 and 2009.[4] He has also worked in the field of corporate business, like his position of director of Sonali Investments Limited.[5] He plays guitar in a Bangladeshi soft-rock band named Renaissance.[6]

Education

Rahman was attended for a PhD.[7] He was a Commonwealth Scholar at the Announcement Effects of Rights Issues on the London Stock Exchange, Manchester Business School, England. He graduated from Dhaka University's IBA with an MBA. He did his Bachelor of Science in mathematical economics and econometrics at the London School of Economics and Political Science.[1]

Career

Rahman was the vice chancellor of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) from 2011 to May 2017.[8][2] He is the professor and dean, School of Business at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh(ULAB). He worked as an acting vice chancellor in ULAB from 2011. He also was the pro vice chancellor at ULAB from 2008 to 2011. Rahman is also the director of the ULAB School of Business since 2006. He was an associate professor of finance at Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka from 1984 till 2009.[4] He was the chairperson of the BBA Program at IBA in the year of 2001 to 2003. He was the director at Equity Valuation Research and Distribution Ltd from 1994 till 2005. He was a financial consultant as a part-timer in Contessa Consultants Ltd from 1996 to 2003.[1]

Rahman is one of the directors at Sonali Investments Limited.[5]

Music

Rahman grew up in a cultural environment.[9] His mother, Malka Parveen Banu, was a renowned singer. She was the first female artiste of Radio Pakistan in Dhaka.[10] Rahman started taking guitar lessons at the age of fifteen along with his friend Faisal Siddiq Bogi (later a member of the band Renaissance). He also practiced with Nakib Khan and Pilu Khan, who later formed Renaissance, before leaving the country for higher education. He joined Renaissance in 1999 and did his first recording in 2004 with the song "Koto Je Poth".[11] Now he performs with the band once a month at 'Spaghetti Jazz,' an Italian bistro at Gulshan 2, Dhaka.[10]
