Gameplay
The player has to manage a group of champions that automatically fight through increasingly harder waves of enemies in each adventure, based on content in official D&D settings. At the start, you only have one champion in your formation, but you can also manually click on enemies to damage them. Defeated enemies drop gold that can be spent to access new champions or upgrade existing ones to boost their skills. Some of these skills affect the champions in the formation depending on how they are positioned or the relevant statistics of these champions, and the formation can only hold up to ten champions at a time. Hence there is an element of strategy in deciding which champions to use and where to place them.
Every few stages a boss-type enemy emerges, which upon defeat would drop gems and sometimes a chest. Chests could contain more gold, equipment that further enhances your champions, or consumable items that provide temporary boosts. Gems are a currency that can be purchased with real money, and can be used to buy more chests in the store. However, many of the purchases in the store (e.g. special-tier chests, item packs) are only accessible with real money.
The player can decide to "complete" the adventure, which does a soft reset so you start your next adventure from scratch. However, you also bank in Divine Favor for the corresponding campaign based on how much gold you earned in total in that adventure. The amount of Divine Favor accumulated within the campaign contributes to the multiplier on gold found in a new run in that campaign, so subsequent adventures would progress faster due to quicker access to upgrades. This same Divine Favor can also be spent to acquire further boons called Blessings, but this also means reducing gold earned in the next run.
The game also runs scheduled events where players have a limited time to unlock and gear up special champions, who are not immediately available in the basic lineup of champions.
