Ian Gale

Air Vice Marshal Ian David Gale, MBE is a senior Royal Air Force officer.

He also holds an MA from King's College London and an MBA from the Open University.[1]

RAF career

Gale was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1990.[2] He became officer commanding No. 31 Squadron in 2008,[3] and station commander at RAF Lossiemouth in 2011.[4] After obtaining operational experience as Deputy Air Component Commander for Operation Ellamy,[5] he became Assistant Chief of Staff for command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance programmes in 2015.[6] In April 2019, he became Assistant Chief of the Air Staff and was promoted to air vice-marshal.[7]

In the 2004 Queen's Birthday Honours, he was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).[8]
