The hyacinth visorbearer (Augastes scutatus) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.

It is endemic to Brazil.[2] Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.
