Husayn Muruwwa

Husayn Muruwwa (also spelled Hussein Mroue or Mroueh) (1910-1987) was a Lebanese journalist and literary critic. His Materialist Trends in Arabic-Islamic Philosophy (2 vols., 1979) was a Marxist re-reading of traditional Arab texts.[1]

Life

Muruwwa was born in Haddatha, southern Lebanon, in 1908, or 1910. He was assassinated in 1987. One of his grandchildren is Rabih Mroué.[2]
