Hospital at the End of the City

Hospital at the End of the City (Czech: Nemocnice na kraji města) is a popular television series first released in Czechoslovakia in 1977.[1] It featured an ensemble cast and received much viewer praise in central Europe. The series ran from 1977 to 1981 for a total of twenty episodes. The success of the series inspired the German television series The Black Forest Clinic.[2]

Plot

The series followed the story of Dr. Sova and his colleagues at the hospital. The series is a drama and is based on a mix of the lives of the doctors and the patients.

Cast

"Nemocnice" featured a cast of actors, many who were very big stars at the time in Czechoslovakia. The cast included Ladislav Chudík, Josef Abrhám, Miloš Kopecký, Iva Janžurová, Eliška Balzerová, Jana Štěpánková, Ladislav Frej and others.

Sequel

A sequel series was developed in 2003[3] called Hospital at the End of the City After Twenty Years (Czech: Nemocnice na kraji města po dvaceti letech), it got mixed reviews and starred most of the original cast. In autumn 2008, a second sequel will be broadcast.
