Horace J Knowles

Horace J Knowles ( 1884 - 1954 ) was an author and illustrator. Known mostly for his biblical illustrations i.e. New English Bible,[1] he was also the author and illustrator of Peeps into Fairyland[2]. He also worked with his brother Reginald L Knowles, on many illustrations for books ( e.g. Legends from Fairyland[3] ).

Knowles' style, similar to that of his brother, has often been described as Art Nouveau.

gollark: You can't (usefully) do fission with deuterium/tritium because of the binding energy per nucleon thing.
gollark: It doesn't have to look nice. My first (working) rocket was just a flat panel with the necessary amounts of engines, tanks, seats and guidance computers.
gollark: (with the flux-infused quiver too)
gollark: Multishot 4 on a flux-infused bow with power 5 is very ridiculous.
gollark: Probably one of the attuned crystal ritual things.

Whilst the text of the Bible remains unchanged from that published by The British and Foreign Bible Society in 1954, much care has been taken with this edition to set that text as clearly as possible on the page. The layout is uncluttered and this, together with the inclusion of illustrations created originally by Horace Knowles for the Revised Standard version in 1952, helps to bring greater immediacy to this 400-year-old translation.CS1 maint: others (link)
