Hobart Walking Club

Hobart Walking Club is a recreational walking club based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia that was started in 1929 by Jack Thwaites and Evelyn Temple Emmett

It has celebrated its over 80 years in a number of commemorative histories at various milestones in its history: 21 years[1] 50 years[2] and 81 years[3]

It has published its journal the 'Tasmanian Tramp' [4] since inception, as well as producing maps[5][6] and other publications over the years.

Considerable effort by many members exploring in the South West Tasmania region brought photographs and texts explaining access to many rivers, mountains and tracks - most of which was written up in the Tasmanian Tramp.

The organisation has also participated in search and rescue events, as well as promoting safety awareness in bushwalking[7]

A similar club exists in northern Tasmania, the Launceston Walking Club.[8][9]

Publications

Most publications by the club, apart from the Tasmanian Tramp were short runs or one off publishing ventures.

gollark: It says that *some* are *from* red giants.
gollark: I don't know, because this is quite long, but it may help.

gollark: Well, those and white/black dwarves, but I mean the only hydrogen-fusing ones.
gollark: I think red dwarves are the only ones which cool over time - the sun gets hotter/brighter.
