History of Immigration in Catalonia Museum

The History of Immigration in Catalonia Museum (Catalan: Museu d'Història de la Immigració de Catalunya) is located in the Can Serra farmhouse, in Sant Adrià de Besòs, and aims to analyse the history of the migratory processes related to Catalonia. The museum is part of the Barcelona Provincial Council Local Museum Network.

Areas

The building is currently divided into different areas:

  • Documentation centre: area where the different research and documentation actions on the history of Catalan immigration take place.
  • Temporary exhibition room: where all types of exhibitions related to immigration are held.
  • El Sevillano: train located in the museum's exterior. El Sevillano is one of the best known trains among the people who emigrated from Andalusia, who used this means of transport to reach Catalonia in the 1950s and 60s.
  • Virtual museum: an online space that promotes the cultural initiative and explains the museums future plans.
