Hillary Mukundane

Hillary Panuel Mukundane (born 09/12/1994) is a Ugandan football association player who plays as a central defender and club captain for club Mbarara City FC.[1][2]

He is born in Kyeizooba, Igala Bushenyi District, to his parents Benet Karukiikoand Winnie Karukiiko

Education

He went to Bugongi Modern Primary School,and sat his Uganda Primary Leaving Examinations from Mweguri Primary School, and joined Bugongi Secondary School, Vine High School for his Uganda Certificate of Education and Kitagata Secondary School for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education before joining Bishop Stuart University where he dropped before completing to focus on his football career.[3]

Career

He never played any football at the Primary level and at O- level be where he was selected to play for the school team but being too small, he was turned into a ball-boy.

At Kitagata Secondary School, he started playing serious football and later at Bishop Stuart University. He started club football at Kamoma FC in the Western Regional League in 2015, before joining Ntoda FC in 2016. He later joined Mbarara City FC for the 2016/17 season in the FUFA Big League, where he helped the club to be promoted to the Startimes Uganda Premier League after knocking out Synergy FC 2-1 in the playoff final at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.[3]

He has spent 3 seasons with Mbarara City FC in the Startimes Uganda Premier League since gaining promotion in 2017 and the right-footed center-half has been an important player for the Ankole Lions team. He has managed to score a total number of 9 goals with 3 of them coming in the 2019/20 season. As one of the most sought after players in Western, region, Uganda, he has set his number of targets that; he wants to play for a team better than Mbarara City FC, that When he plays for a better club, his regular chances of playing in the National team be increased in more 3-5 years. His Inspiration to play football comes from long time known players like Uganda's assistant captain and Vipers SC Player Hassan Wasswa and David Luiz for Arsenal FC and his toughest opponent is Uganda's player Dan Sserunkuma. He was nominated for the 2019 Airtel FUFA men Player of the year.[4]

Since his football career, he has never been called for the national team playing squads, a dream he is always working hard day and night for.[5]

He has won a number awards including the man of the match awards.[6]
