This genus contains two species:
- Heterocentrotus mamillatus (Linnaeus, 1758)
- Heterocentrotus trigonarius (Lamarck, 1816)
- Radiols (spikes) of a "slate pencil sea urchin" (Heterocentrotus mamillatus). They are a classical souvenir.
