Biography

Corbin was born in 1629 in Warwickshire the son of Thomas Corbin and his wife Winifred Grosvenor. In 1654, at the age of 25, he immigrated arriving aboard the ship Charity, to Virginia settling in Lancaster County, Virginia, which is now part of Middlesex County. The governor and council made him a justice of the county court in 1657.[1] He served in the Virginia House of Burgesses for Lancaster, Virginia in at least the 1659–60 session.[2] In 1663, he was appointed to the Virginia Governor's Council.[3] He remained on the council until his death in 1676.[1]

Family

He married Alice Eltonhead, the widow of Rowland Burnham, before April 5, 1658. They had three sons: Henry, Thomas, and Gawin, and five daughters: Letitia, Alice, Winifred, Ann, and Frances. Henry died on January 8, 1675. His widow married (3rd) Capt. Henry Creyke (or Creeke)[4] Letitia married Richard Lee II, a Colonel, planter, politician, and Member of the Upper House and of the King's Council of Virginia. Ann married William Tayloe, the nephew of William Tayloe (the immigrant) of King's Creek Plantation and High Sheriff of York Co., Virginia, the father of John Tayloe I of The Old House and progenitor of the Tayloe's of Mount Airy, Richmond County, Virginia.[5]

gollark: Yes. Via very long-running MitM attacks on your internet connection, I actually replaced all the language documentation you viewed with docs for different Forth dialects.
gollark: Same syntax, even. How creative.
gollark: It does, yes.
gollark: Doesn't C# have lambdas now too?
gollark: Fortunately, TLS 1.3, the best TLS, dropped this, and now *all* is AES/ChaCha20.
