Helen Parry Eden

Helen Parry Eden (1885–1960) was an English poet.[1] She is crediting with making popular in English the phrase "bread and circuses".[2]

Life

She was born Helen Parry, the daughter of Edward Abbott Parry.[3] She was educated at Roedean School, Manchester University, and King's College Art School, where she studied 1903–5 under Byam Shaw and Vicat Cole.[4][5]

In 1907 she married the artist Denis Eden, and they became Catholic converts in 1909.[6] They had a son and two daughters.[5]

gollark: I've heard it said that house prices are high in many cities because the people there have a lot of influence on zoning and such, but also have an incentive to not allow more buildings because it would reduce the amount their house is worth.
