Hegde
Hegde is a surname from Karnataka, India. It is found amongst Hindus of the Bunt community[1] and Havyaka Brahmins in Karnataka. Kurubas community known as Hegde in Mandya ,Mysuru and Ramnagar Districts.
Etymology
The word Hegde is derived from the Old Kannada word Pergade which means chief.[2]
