Hanna or Hannah is a surname arising from multiple surnames, including Irish and Scottish surname ultimately of Irish origin from O'Hannaidh meaning that one is a descendant of the lowland Clan Hannay, and alternatively an Arabic surname (حنّا, particularly among Arab Christians in Lebanon, Egypt and Syria) deriving from the Arabic name of the apostle John.
