Haji Hussain Ansari

Haji Hussain Ansari is an Indian politician and Minister of Minority Welfare and Registration Department, Government of Jharkhand. He is a leader of JMM. He has been the chairman of Hajj committee Jharkhand. Ansari is the first and only Muslim to become minister in the state. He was elected to Jharkhand Assembly on JMM ticket three times from Madhupur Assembly constituency in 1995, 2000 and in 2010 respectively and also acted as the leader of the opposition in 2004.[1]

Early life and career

Ansari was born in the village Pipra near Madhupur on 23 July 1947. He was educated at the Almitra School in Deoghar.

Political career

Ansari started his political career with congress he soon joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in the early 90s. He contested the election for the Madhupur constituency in 1995 and won the election. He was again elected mla in 2000 in the same constituency. Being an influential andpopular party member he was selected as leader of opposition in 2003–04. He was again selected in assembly in 2009. He was appointed as the minority welfare minister in the coalition government from 2009 to 2015.
