Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa School

Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa Higher Secondary School (GGSKHSS) is a secondary school located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. The school is popularly known as "Khalsa School". The school is popular for its educational system and other activities and is ranked among top schools of the city.

In 1994, a college affiliated with the Rani Durgavati University in Jabalpur was opened on the same campus. The school has strong ties with the Sikh community. Though the school has no religious affiliations to Sikhism, it promotes the cultural activities that are often the hallmark of Sikhism. Such activities include the birthday celebration of Guru Nanak Dev on November 19 every year and related processions in the city.

History

After independence, the GGSKHSS school was erected besides Marhatal Gurudwara wherein Hindi and English medium education was given in morning and day shift respectively and then in 80's, it was shifted to an old British era bungalow near 4th bridge with the original architecture of the building intact. Interested students participates in the Jaloos [procession on Guru Nanak Devji's and Guru Gobind Singhji's Birthdays]. The school administration board has added facilities to target the higher education market by opening a college on the same campus. Now the school has morning classes and turns into a college in the afternoon.

The educational syllabus of the school is based upon the syllabus prescribed by the state Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education and the medium of instruction is English. As with many other schools in the region, GGSKHSS follows the concept of the 'third language', the first two being English (the medium of instruction) and Hindi (the national language of India). Being closely related to Sikhism, the third language of the school is Punjabi. There is an optional third language, [Sanskrit / Punjabi (since school is closely related to Sikhism)], student may choose any of these according to their interest.

gollark: Apparently old pacemakers ran on small RTGs, but people are too uncool to do that nowadays I think.
gollark: > I wonder if it would be possible to engineer a contagious bacteria with rapid reproductive rates to produce a fast acting psychoactive compound when undergoing cellular division, similar to how cholera produces cholera toxin. It would be an interesting non lethal bio weapon that could incapacitate enemy forces in a few hoursIt seems like it's getting cheaper and easier for people to genetically engineer bacteria and stuff, so I worry that within a few decades it will be easy enough that people will just do this sort of thing for funlolz.
gollark: I think I remember this being discussed before? Spirit complained about it.
gollark: Talking about where to get them might be, or at least might cause them to complain.
gollark: Based on advanced "ctrl+F" technology, there's nothing specifically about drugs or whatever (would be weird if there was) but just "no doing illegal things". *Talking* about drugs is not illegal.
