The Great Master of France ("Le Grand Maître de France") had the supervision of all the Royal House of the King of France ("il avait la supervision sur toute la Maison du Roi").

He possesses surrounding his heraldic shield two red sceptres with a royal crown on top ("Il plaçait en sautoir derrière son blason deux bâtons de vermeil fleurdelissés, sommés d'une couronne royale").
