Gran Hotel (Costa Rica)

Gran Hotel is a hotel in San José, Costa Rica. The address is Central and Second Avenue between First and Third. It is a historic monument in the city, built in 1930. The hotel is located near the National Theatre [1] on one corner and the Pre-Columbian Gold Museum on the other. The hotel contains a casino in the lobby and a cafe on the patio, noted for its marimba performances. [2]

Name Change

On October 5, 2011, Tribune Business News announced that the Gran Hotel in Costa Rica became a member of the Choice International and Reals Hotels & Resorts chain resulting in renaming the hotel.[3] The hotel name was changed to The Gran Hotel Costa Rica Ascend Collection and announced on December 14 through a press release.

Effective Sep 10 2018 it will be part of the Hilton Curio Collection.

The Gran Hotel consists of five room packages. These include: Standard Room, Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Master Suite and J.F.K. (John F. Kennedy) Presidential Suite.[4] Each room is accommodated with air conditioner except the Standard Rooms. There are also rooms for disabled guests. There are 107 guestrooms
