Graduate Assessment Test

Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) is a test for admission in MS/MPhil and PhD programs and for law graduates (LLB) to enrolled as an Advocate in Pakistan. The test is administered by the National Testing Service (NTS). The Law GAT test is administered by the Higher Education Commission HEC.

Types of Tests

There are the following kinds of GAT tests.

  • GAT-General, for admission in MS/MPhil programs
  • GAT-Subject, for admission in PhD programs
  • Law GAT, for law graduates (LLB) to enrolled as an Advocate in Pakistan
  • SEE Law GAT, for law graduates from Foreign Universities to enrolled as an Advocate in Pakistan

Validity of the Score

The test score of GAT General or GAT Subject remains valid for 2 years. The test score of Law GAT and SEE Law is valid for a lifetime.

How to prepare Law GAT

Study law subjects according to HEC Law Gat Curriculum. Law GAT MCQs books available in markets are bulky containing irrelevant material and also contained errors, so the most authentic source of test preparation is the main law books called Bare Acts, which are freely available on lawgat.atspace.cc [1]

Preparation of SEE Law

It is recommended to avoid Law GAT objective books for preparation of SEE Law test as number of students failed to pass the test due to these books. Study law test subjects according to HEC Curriculum. The most authentic source of SEE Law test preparation is the main law books called Bare Acts, which are error-free.[2]

Law GAT past papers

HEC is conducting law GAT and SEE law in the High-security environment with rangers outside the test center. All types of digital devices are taken off not only from the candidate but also from duty staff. Law GAT past papers are not available publicly but few come out. HEC Law GAT past papers are helpful in understanding the paper pattern and questions. Normally 10 to 15 questions are repeating from past papers.[3]

Law GAT 2020

Higher Education Commission has announced the first law Gat test for the year 2020 on 7 June 2020. The last date of test registration is extended to 10 July 2020.
