Gottlob Ludwig Rabenhorst

Gottlob Ludwig Rabenhorst (born March 22, 1806 in Treuenbrietzen; died April 24, 1881 in Meissen) was a German botanist and mycologist.

He was a student in Berlin and Belzig from 1822 to 1830, a pharmacist in Luckau until 1840, and received his doctorate in Jena in 1841. From 1840 he lived in Dresden, relocating to nearby Meissen in 1875, where he died several years later.

Renowned for his research of cryptogamic flora native to central Europe, his name is associated with "Dr. L. Rabenhorst's Kryptogamen-Flora von Deutschland, Oesterreich und der Schweiz".[1][2] Rabenhorst edited the scientific journal Hedwigia from 1852 to 1878.[3] With Alexander Braun (1805-1877) and Ernst Stizenberger (1827-1895), he was editor of the exsiccatae Die Characeen Europas.[4]

gollark: Oh, those are uno cards.
gollark: <:upsidownthink:677741442327904266> How mysterious.
gollark: Clearly what we need is an IPv6 emoji to express support.
gollark: There's basically no chance of that, since they would miss out on a few % of users, even if they use only IPv6 internally.
gollark: My browser is probably defaulting to IPv4 anyway.
