Career

Club

Born in Burnaby, British Columbia, Chin began his career with Portsmouth, but he never played a senior game for the team; he began his professional career in 2003 with the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he played 16 games and failed to score a goal. In 2004 Chin signed with new expansion side Edmonton Aviators, where he scored three goals and one assist for in 25 matches, ranked second behind Jordan Graves.

When the Aviators folded, Chin signed with Halifax Town of the Conference National in November 2004,[1] where he played nine games and scored a single goal before being released in April 2005.[2]

On April 27, 2006 the Toronto Lynx announced the signing of Chin along with Rick Titus, and Osni Neto.[3] Though the Lynx failed to qualify for the play-offs he contributed by helping his team to a team-record undefeated streak at home to 10 games and reach the final of the Open Canada Cup which they lost 2–0 against Ottawa St. Anthony Italia.[4]

When the 2006 season ended the Lynx organization decided for financial reasons to drop two divisions down to the Premier Development League, making him a free agent to sign with Charleston Battery. He played indoor soccer for the Baltimore Blast for the MISL's 2006-07 season.[5] In March 2008, he transferred to China, his grandfather's motherland, and signed with Yantai Yiteng of the China Jia League. On 23 April 2009, Chin returned to the Vancouver Whitecaps, signing a one-year contract with the team.[6]

International

Chin has represented Canada internationally as a member of the under-20 and under-23 teams. He was a member and co-captain of the Canada under-20 squad that qualified for the 2003 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

gollark: Yes, which is quite limiting vs OpenCL, which is basically the same but cross-platform.
gollark: I'm fairly sure it only runs on NvIDIa GPus.
gollark: is probably better since it's not nVidia-specific.
gollark: ***OpenCL***
gollark: I wanted a hyperapp-like state management thing with no view for skynet (it's a long story...) so I made this, because Javascript microlibraries are trendy.```javascriptconst R = require("ramda")module.exports = (initialState, actions, context = {}, expose) => { let state = initialState const wired = R.map(action => (...args) => { const result = action(...args)(state, actions, context) if (typeof result === "object") { state = R.merge(state, result) } }, actions) if ("init" in wired) { wired.init() } if (expose) { return R.pick(expose, wired) } else { return wired }}```
