Gerald Geis

Gerald E. Geis (born August 31, 1933) is a former politician who served as a Republican member of the Wyoming Senate, representing the 20th district[1] initially from 1975 to 1986 and then from 1993 until his retirement in 2017.[2]

Early life

Geis was born August 31, 1933 in a three-room log cabin with no water or electricity near Ten Sleep, Wyoming .[3] He moved to Worland in 1944 and graduated from Worland High School in 1951.

Career

Geis worked in road construction and hauling livestock and was first asked to enter politics in 1974 whilst attending the Wyoming Truckers Convention. He quit the senate in 1984 to run for secretary of state and was defeated in the primary by 62 votes, before returning to the senate in 1993. Geis retired in 2017 and was replaced by Wyatt Agar.[4]

Family

Geis is married to Irma, and together they have two children.[3]
