The Georgia World Congress Center Department of Public Safety was created by an act of the state legislature in 1995, known as HB 1475.[1]

Although the GWCCA Police Department enjoys statewide jurisdiction, its primary obligation is to protect the 2,300,000-square-foot (210,000 m2) Congress Center, as well as the Georgia Dome and Centennial Olympic Park.[2]

The Georgia World Congress Center Department of Public Safety has both a police officer division as well as a security officer division.

The department has a fully functional bike patrol, Segway patrol and vehicle patrol.
