George Stade

George Stade (November 25, 1933 - February 26, 2019) was an American literary scholar, critic, novelist and professor at Columbia University.[1][2]

Early life and education

Stade graduated from Haaren High School, then attended the City College of New York for one year, before transferring to St. Lawrence University because his mother worried that he was hanging with the wrong crowd.[2] He graduated from St. Lawrence in 1955 with a degree in English.[2]
